Purpose

We are aware of the difficulties some members of our community have in accessing the justice system and legal services. As attorneys, we are in a unique position to assist, and we have the ethical obligation to take on pro bono work in order to provide such access. We therefore encourage pro bono work among our attorneys as an integral part of our professional obligations, and we recognize those who participate in pro bono work.

Beneficiaries

We assist pro bono clients in areas of law where assistance may be lacking. We offer pro bono services to persons or groups with limited resources, or those in situations of vulnerability or social marginalization, as well as to nongovernmental organizations that assist them.

FERRERE’s Responsibility

We provide our pro bono clients with the same quality professional service as that provided to all of our clients. Our pro bono services are free of charge. Pro bono clients are responsible for necessary expenses that arise in connection with the pro bono services, unless otherwise agreed in writing. Article IV. Pro Bono Committee.

FERRERE’s Pro Bono Committee, comprised of associates and partner coordinators, directs and coordinates pro bono work, as well as determines the resources available for pro bono cases.

FERRERE is signatory of the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas (PBDA).

Pro Bono Committee

Direction and coordination of pro bono work, as well as determination of resources available for pro bono cases, rest with the FERRERE pro bono committee, whose members are associates and coordinating partners.

Acceptance of pro bono cases

Those seeking pro bono legal assistance must submit a request for assistance on the forms that we provide. The Pro Bono Committee analyzes the requests and determines whether they meet the criteria for acceptance.
